So Tom came round my house today. He's now gone. We watched Grave of the Fireflies, drank cider and soup, and we put a LOT of music on his swish new external hard drive (though not quite as swish as yours Jimmy T).
Perhaps the best development of this visit was a new song! "Woohoo!", I hear you cry! It was born from something Tom had been playing around with for a while- he had a few lyrics and a melody, and a few riffs. I wrote something for the 'chorus' which is intended to be quite laid back, with Anna and Greg also singing the main vox part, and a glockenspiel following the melody too. It's a banjo/mandolin/accordion/melodica/trumpet friendly song, I think- Tom's probably got some ideas too- so he should bloody hurry up and post a blog! There is another bit at the end of the track which we didn't record- in a slightly differing rhythm- building and building into a sheer precipice of noise which all begins with a bit of humming and scatting (ha!).
So anyway, without further ado, here it is. I don't know what Tom's lyrics are- so I'm sure he'll post them at some point. The part that I sing goes:
Although it's impossible that I could be so blind, you'll just have to try me.
You should take this as a sign; you'll just have to trust me that I can be happy.
